TIGERS REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN LEAGUE

Newport Pagnell 1

Holbeach United 1

A draw away at Pagnell is a more than credible result, and one which means the Tigers remain unbeaten in the league. However, because they led from Tyler Wright’s 22nd minute goal right until the 82nd minute, means there’ll be a slight air of disappointment around the camp.

In truth, the Tigers more than held their own at both ends of the pitch. They looked a real threat with each attack and defending strongly and effectively. Adam Jackson and Jamie Stevens kept the threats away, while Eyett, Wright, Thomas and Ford all excelled going forward.

Wright’s goal was well worked and came at a time when the Tigers were under some pressure – Nick Jackson having just cleared a ball off the line. And, to be fair, Newport missed a couple of sitters – they definitely left their shooting boots in the changing room today.

The late equaliser came from a corner and, bizarrely, Josh Ford was sent off shortly afterwards.

His first yellow was for “kicking the ball away” at a throw in, when it appeared he was kicking the ball back to the player and the second for not moving out of the way quickly enough for a free kick – both harsh yellows.

The Tigers are away at Harrowby on Tuesday night.
