Disappointing Saturday but Veteran's top the League.

Holbrook Sports vs Radford - EMCL - 30/09/17 3pm KO

After the disappointment of a last-gasp defeat in the FA Vase last weekend, the Brookies face Radford at the APC Sealants Ground for what will be a stern EMCL test against arguably the form team of the last two seasons.

We now have five of the next six league games at home and this will give us a chance to rectify our patchy home form and also to consolidate our position in the league table.

Our opponents on Saturday have overhauled their squad from last season and after a slow start are now beginning to show a run of form and they will be a threat if we are not at our best.

Heanor Town Reserves vs Holbrook Sports Reserves - CML Div 1 - 30/09/17 3pm KO

The Reserves were defeated at Mickleover RBL Reserves last weekend. Mickleover held on after going in at half-time 2-1, Isaac Anderson-Raymond scored the only goal. Brookies tried their very best to rescue the result but the RBL goalkeeper and post thwarted the Holbrook efforts.

This weekend they have a short trip to Heanor Town Reserves. Hopefully, it will be a better afternoon, who are currently sitting in the bottom 2, without a league win but have drawn their last 2 games which including top of the table Eastwood CFC Reserves.

Match Report - Holbrook Sports Veterans 2-0 Mickleover RBL Veterans - 24/09/17 - East Midlands Veterans Conference West

The Old Brookies have had an amazing start to the season, winning two games on the trot without even conceding a goal yet and top the league for the first time.

They started the season in early September with an impressive 3 nil victory in Burton, away to Midway The game won with goals by Stephen Blurton and Danny Wright with a double.

This Sunday they faced Mickleover RBL at the APC Sealants Ground. An even game was won by the Brookies 2-0 with goals in each half from Jeffrey Stevens and Danny Wright, his third in two games.

Two clean sheets is a massive achievement especially when the combined aged of the back four breaks the 200-year barrier. Experience is everything, but pace up front has been their real secret so far and hopefully, they will continue their successes in a couple of Sunday's time when they face Hilton Harriers away at the Mease Pavilion on the 8th October.
