Holland Book Semi Final Spot !!

A Brace in extra time from Steve Eaton (Pictured) see's Holland through to a Semi Final Tie against High Flying Harwich & Parkeston FC.

The Quarter Final played on a rather bumpy surface took a while to get going, the home side worked hard to stifle the Holland midfield and to Barnston's credit this seemed to work !, Holland resulted to playing rather too long and straight passes, Steve Eaton's pace was getting him in behind but in his eagerness Steve was going just a little bit early and the linesman's flag was raised time after time !, as the game settled down we strung some passes together but we could not force the ball past the excellent Barnston keeper, he made one fine stop in particular from a Steve Eaton curling shot, but with a minute to go until half time we finally got our reward, Bruce Poole picked the ball up and beat Two players before firing into the bottom corner 1-0.

In the 2nd period we largely dominated play, this was also due to the Barnston Defender seeing Red for a tackle on Jack Fuller who being clean through would have had a Goal scoring attempt but for the late lung, we would and should have progressed comfortably into the semi final but for a mix up in the back line, we misjudge a flighted ball which then finds itself at the feet of the Barnston striker who fires home 1-1, we still keep banging on the door but Barnston defend well and hold out for extra time.

Full Time 1-1.

The 1st Period of Extra Time see's us through with two well worked goals, the 1st from a diagonal James Law cross, see's Joe Martin power a header across goal for Steve Eaton to fire home 2-1 !, Steve then adds his 2nd, he picks up a pass from "Jambo" and flicks the ball over the defenders head and fires home 3-1, game over !. The 2nd period is largely Barnston defending again which they do and deserve great credit for, with one man down its not easy for them, so well done. But Holland March on to the Semi Final tie.
