Captain Moss leads by example to get Chapel over the winning line

Holmes chapel RUFC travelled to Wilmslow for a tricky encounter as they looked to keep the pressure on the league leaders. A good start was essential as the villagers didn't want Wilmslow to get in front and things to become more difficult, thankfully, after good work from the forwards Mark McEnenay was on hand to charge over for the first score of the game, successfully converted by Mike Lightfoot. More success followed as Joe Baskerville rounded the oncoming defence for another converted try.

Just when it looked like Chapel were on top, Wilmslow struck back, powerful running and neat handling giving them a converted try in return. It was more of the same from the home side as Chapel were on the back foot, big tackles from Joe Faulkes and Mark Stewart saving the day but eventually the pressure told and Wilmslow equalised with another converted try.

The game continued to flow from end to end with no team in real command. Captain Dom Moss giving Chapel the lead back but Wilmslow again quick to respond with another try, before Tom Chambers made the score 26-19 at the break.

Chapel were starting to get control of the game and when Gav Paton broke the defence for another Holmes Chapel try the game was beginning to look safe. The forward were continuing to work hard Jim Hamilton leading by example and supported by front row partner Will Mitchell. More ball in hand allowed Josh Berry in for e final score of the game and gave Chapel a hard fought but deserved victory by 19 to 38.

As always a huge thank to the club sponsors.
