Tough game ends with a win.

This weekend Chapel welcomed middle of the table village Spartans to station Road. The boys in blue and gold were keen to keep the pressure on league leaders widnes.

The first 20 minutes was very even with both teams struggling to dominate possession and territory. Chapel hadn't found our form yet and the attack wasn't clicking. Both defences were standing strong though. We knew in order to break down the spartans defence the support play and aggression in contact would have to improve. Captain dom moss broke the line with 10 minutes to go and was tackled by a covering defender but excellent support play by vice captain Chambers allowed the offload to be made and the open-side was able to race away before scoring under the posts. This set the tempo and chapels support improved. 2 more tries were scored before the break with the pick of the bunch being blind sides; Joe Foulkes after a superb line by big second row Makka. Davies in fine form with the boot and all 3 converted, 21-0 at half time.

Chapel relaxed after half time and the away side capitalised. Some excellent back play allowed them to score 2 well worked tries. This kicked the boys in blue and gold into gear and they regained control of the game. Conor Gavin found himself in unusual territory and intercepted a long pass before powering through under the posts. The game remained pretty balanced for the next 20 minutes with both sides scoring a try a piece with Jim Moss scoring for the home side. As the game wore on, chapels fitness started to show and they upped the pressure. Bowbeer, Makka and nath Stewart all managing to get on the score sheet. The game finished with Stewarts score and ended 50-21 to the home side.

Chapel came off pleased with the result because of the away sides ability. Chapel played some free flowing Rugby in parts and can be happy with their performance. MoM was a joint award between props Ed Chapel and Rob Moore who were both solid in the scrum and destructive in the loose.

Chapel would like to thank the spartans for an excellent and even game played in great spirit.
