On Friday 15th May Holwells Presentation Night will finally see the 2014-2015 season draw to a close.

With only the awards left to hand out, plans are already ahead for next season with the aim to improve at minimum on this seasons 8th place finish (59 points).

That compares to 2013-2014s league finish of 9th place with 61 points. Over the course of the past 7 season, Holwells average league position works out at 9th so it could be said that this season has ended up as a par season.

Throw into the equation the injury soap opera at the start of the season with 3 broken ankles and a cheekbone for good measure to four seperate players, a club record equaling FA Cup run, and short run in the FA Vase as well to boot.

Over the course of the season Holwell contested 47 matches, winning 22, drawing 8 and losing 17. Holwell scored 87 goals in total, 44 of them being at Welby Road, the other 43 away from home. Unfortunately Holwell shipped a total of 92 goals this season, this time 41 at Welby Road, 51 away. This meant the Welby Road spectators in the 22 games witnessed this season were 'treated' to an average of 3.86 goals a game.

Scott Mooney was Holwells main source of goal netting 33 in total, with Graham Wells netting 15, with Chris Hibbitt and Kieran Foster chipping in with 10 each.

Aaron Ridout was the closest any player came to being an ever present this season appearing in 44 of the 47 games with Chris Hibbitt wearing the Holwell jersey for 40 games, with Scott Mooney and Harry Stannard showing their face for 38 of the 47 fixtures.

In total Holwell used 39 players across the course of the season with 19 players going on to make double figure number off appearances.

Work and planning has already begun in giving Welby Road a face lift with Technical Turf giving the playing surface some much need tlc. Anybody wishing to help out or donate time/resources to the course can do by getting in touch with a commitee member or email holwellsportsfc@virginmedia.com

See you all next season, enjoy the summer, from everyone at Welby Road.

(congratulations to both Chris Hibbitt and Stuart Rose on the births of their first children, well timed after the end of the season)
