The Wellmen lose to local rivals Denbigh Town as the hosts run out 4-1 winners.

Paul Williams gave the Wellmen the lead midway through the first half but Denbigh Town soon equalised through Andrew Swarbrick. The hosts then took the lead through Warren Duckett with 10 minutes to go before the break.

Town pressed for the equaliser after the break with Sam Jones and John Leonard going close but it was Denbigh who got the next goal as Duckett got his second of the game on 71 minutes.

Stuart Vernon wrapped up the points 5 minutes late, scoring to give Denbigh Town a 4-1 lead and there was no way back for the Wellmen. To add to Town's misery, Tony Roebuck was sent off for a second yellow card and will miss next week's game against Bodedern Athletic.

The win meant that Denbigh Town were crowned Welsh Alliance Division 1 Champions and they were presented with the trophy after the game and Holywell Town would like to congratulate our near neighbours from across the border on winning the League and to wish them luck for next season in the Cymru Alliance.
