VP'S Day

Honiton welcome Newquay Hornets to Allhallows on Saturday afternoon. The Lacemen also host their Vice Presidents and key sponsors on what should be a bright day.

Honiton have recovered well since a difficult time over the Christmas period when they lost a little bit of direction. Some hard work and the return of key players has seen the side pull clear of any relegation fears, and re-introduce the running rugby that has become synonymous with the club in recent seasons.

The last few weeks have yielded some decent results, and with just three games left, all to be packed into the next 10 games, they hope to clamber into the top half of the table.

On many occasions this season we have had to rely on some fringe players. This is the same as in any season, and so it will be a challenge for Honiton to really get those fringe players closer involved next season and have them consistently push for places in the side.

Team News

Some tough decisions this week, which is nice.

Harrison, Way and Dalton start in the front row, with Guilbert returning to the second row to partner Lane. This allows Rice to shuffle back to eight, with Price at seven and Hill at six.

Robinson keeps his shirt after a good performance at nine last week, with Thompson at ten. Canniford and Barratt continue in the centres with Bennett shuffling out to the wing. Webber takes up the other wing with Rice at full back.

The bench is Selway, Hyland and Coutts. Coutts in particular a little unfortunate to miss out on a start this week. A special mention also goes out to Cooke, who has been a real star for the club over recent weeks, doing some right proper manning up and playing hooker in some god forsaken Cornish hell holes.

Wos On

Been a while since a decent wos on, it’s been bleedy manic. Now I’m back for 5 minutes I can think about writing sumit.

I’m at a wedding today in North Devon, so very much looking forward to it. I have to make sure I don’t drink too much tonight. I know that’s a challenge some of the younger players struggle with on a Friday night! Let’s see how I do.

Nice to see Torquay going down.
