PURTON F.C. 1 - HOOK NORTON F.C. 1
Hooky turned in a good performance on the road at fourth placed placed Purton on Saturday and returned home with a deserved share of the spoils.
The better chances of the early exchanges fell to “The Brewery Boys” Mark Dennis and Jason Tillcock both having good opportunities, but neither failed to work the goalkeeper.
Purton substitute goalkeeper Lee Wilson pulled off a fine finger tip save save to deny Jason Tillcock midway through the half.
But it was the home side who opened the scoring on the half hour mark, poor defending from a corner kick allowed Nick McCrae to head home unopposed from six yards at the far post.
Half Time 1:0
Hooky drew level five minutes after the restart Ben Tew being bundled over in the penalty box, Chris Tillcock calmly converting the resultant spot kick.
And it was Hooky who continued to dominate affairs with the impressive Danny Poole in midfield pulling the strings.
Chris Tillcock going close after an hour, dragging his shot across the goal and beyond the far post.
The impressive defensive duo of Jayson Mara and man of the match Harry Smith limiting the home side only to long range efforts, rarely troubling Joe Murrell.
Full Time 1:1
