EASINGTON SPORTS F.C. 0 – HOOK NORTON F.C 6 (SIX)
In what was probably their best performance of the season, Hooky came out on top in this Easter Monday “derby” at Easington Sports, beating their local rivals by six goals to nil.
Hooky took the lead only 7 minutes in, a well worked corner between Jamie Wyatt and the impressive Andrew Helby, resulted in Helby pulling the ball back from the bye line for David Buckwell to smash the ball into the roof of the net. The second goal followed only four minutes later, Chris Tillcock on target this time firing the ball home past Lee Farrow from 20 yards. Farrow was to have a busy afternoon in the Easington goal, and he was once again picking the ball out of his net after 36 minutes, Andrew Helby’s shot from 25 yards in to the bottom right hand corner of Farrow’s net.
Hooky dominated the half from start to finish, Joe Murrell being asked to make only one save of note from a Callum Convey free kick.
Half Time 0-3
As expected Easington came out the dressing room fired up for the second period and Hooky had to withstand early pressure in the opening minutes of the half, Joe Murrell making a fine one on one save from Steve Howkins (who was later sent off for a second yellow card) to preserve “The Brewery Boys” three goal lead. After soaking up this early pressure Hooky continued to dominate proceedings from their on in, playing some good quality, controlled football in the process, that their hosts could not live with.
Hooky extended their lead on 62 minutes, a long punt from keeper Joe Murrell was mis-read by Lee Farrow allowing Jamie Wyatt to nip in, before rounding the stranded keeper and rolling the ball into the empty net.
The fifth goal came from a free kick 25 yards out, Hooky’s hardworking striker Mark Dennis stepped up and curled a delightful shot into the keepers top left hand corner.
The rout was complete on 82 minutes, Dennis and Helby exchanging passes before Helby drilled home a fine shot into the keepers bottom right hand corner.
A thoroughly comprehensive victory for the visitor’s in a game they dominated from start to finish.
Full Time 0-6
