Epsom & Ewell v Horley Town
Awful night but right result.
The last time we visited Chipstead's ground it was bathed in sunshine yet just a month later we were playing in torrential rain throughout but at least we got the right result.
We could and should have been ahead within two minutes but failed to score , and to compound that we fell behind just a minute later when a cross come shot caught Andrew Osei
, making his first league start for the club , off guard allowing the ball to break his grasp to allow the hosts the perfect start.
Epsom remained on top in the opening exchanges and we could have been further behind , but thankful that we weren't we improved gradually and were rewarded with a harsh but fair penalty award that Kerran Boylan
The same player combined well with Karl Parker
from a Butch Smith free kick but had his spectacular overhead conversion ruled out by a dubious off side decision.
At the break all square any improvement on our part would give us a very real opportunity of winning the game and it was just three minutes into the second period when we took the lead via a neat finish by Leyton Regan
At this stage and in total control we contrived to create and miss a number of chances a number of which were from set plays , however our persistence paid off when Karl Parker
stooped to head home from another set play at the midway point in the half.
As the game entered its final ten minutes or so a number of changes were made in order to see the game out yet late drama wasnt to be avoided when in the ninetieth minute a rash goalkeeping decision allowed the hosts to convert simply and with four added minutes the game was unnecessarily in the balance.
Thankfully we held on for another important three points.
