Spelthorne Sports v Horley Town
Away win at top 3 side.
Saturdays game at Spelthorne was arguably our biggest test in the last month , and thankfully we did enough to secure another three points.
Both sides came into the game in decent form with our hots sitting in the top 3 thanks to a fine start to the campaign.
The first half went as expected , with two well matched teams grappling to gain the initiative.
Chances were few and far between , although Spelthorne certainly shaded it but on the balance of play parity at the break was a fair reflection.
Either side could have won this as it was always a game likely to be settled by one goal , and that going to whatever side could find that little bit extra.
That was us from a set play midway through the half , when Jack Poplett
converted Butch Smith's corner .
The closeness of the scoreline more than anything else brought the inevitable nerves as we reached the last ten . We had restricted the chances for our hosts but with just a single goal lead anything could have happened.
We had chances to see of our opponents and to ease the anxiety , but Leyton Regan
with eight to go and Tate Greenaway in the final minute both missed reasonable opportunities to score.
Thankfully this was not costly as we held on to win our fifth game in succession.
