Horley Town v Godalming Town
Tenth League Win
In what has been a challenging time recently in the League , Horley secured another three points taking them over the thirty point mark with a scrappy win against an improving Godalming team.
Nerves were settled early , when Leyton Regan
followed up his spectacular midweek strike , with another fine finish to give us the lead a quarter of an hour in.
Whilst largely in control for long periods the security of a second goal just didn't arrive, and there was a sense of inevitability that we may be punished because of this. Half time was reached comfortably enough , but the equaliser went in early on in the second half following a deflection off the unfortunate Tate Greenaway who was playing in an unfamiliar full back position.
It certainly sparked a reaction , but the visitors held firm until the last twenty when substitute Nathan Turner
beat the onrushing goalkeeper to the ball , lifting it over him and goalwards , the final touch however coming from a defender in his desperate attempt to clear.
Both teams kept going and Godalming showed great spirit in competing until the end but the win was just about deserved as we move forward with the FA Vase campaign.
