Hello,
Please see below a piece about a club member, Raymond Badcock, who has been working with the clubs Minis and Junior section before stepping down at the end of last season after 23 years. As you will see he has since been given an award as well as a new annual award in his name which is given out at the club every year. Please could you find a place in the paper to put this in. Please let me know if you have any comments. Picture attached.
…………….
My 23 year with Hornsea Rugby Club. Raymond Badcock known as Ray took his 7yrs old son, Danny, to rugby, he was enthusiastic and Ray was too. Ray helped with the children and soon became a coach and later a mini co-organiser over the years he became friendly with the Hornsea lions which helped the club with equipment and shirts over the years. It has been nice seeing the young ones grow up and play in the senior team, it makes all the time and effort well worth it. A surprise came to me when the president of the lions presented me with the shield for the ‘Ken Bell Award for outstanding service in the community’ in 2011. The Hornsea RUFC mini and youth side now also present a the ‘Ray Badcocks commitment to mini rugby shield’ each year to a mini for commitment to rugby. My last surprise was a certify for a valued volunteer which was given to me at the dinner of the RFU president together with an England V.I.P tie. We all do our voluntary work for the mini rugby, teaching the children to work together in teams keeping them away from the street giving them a purpose teaching them respect, enjoyment and discipline so it is so nice to be given an acknowledgment for doing my bit. I feel so proud to have been given these awards so a very big thank you to everyone. If any parents or ex-players can be of any help to the minis and juniors at Hornsea RUFC please get in contact with The Hornsea RUFC President Jim Froud, Mini and Juniors Co-ordinator Grahame Thompson, or Ray Badcock on 01964 535153.
