The competition was initially planned for Saturday 16th August. This was later than usual due to the work and maintenance required on the pitch. The date was then moved from the 16th to the 23rd due to issues with the attendance on that day.

At the end of last week, seven teams had confirmed with 3-4 still undecided. A cry off at the start of the week prompted the usual pre-competition phone calls, this exercise is now complete and has resulted in only 2 teams (excluding Hornsea) attending.

As disappointing as this is, it is clearly not viable to run a competition with 3 teams committed a week out as experience tells us this will be reduced further, the closer we get the day.

Roger and I will now attempt to find opposition for a 15’s game at the Rec on the 23rd.

In addition, the opposition for the squad game on Tuesday 19th have last week also cried off, this will now be a training session. Finally, we are also trying to recover a squad game for Tuesday 26th – the opposition for this game can now not attend due to operational commitments. Roger & I again will try and find opposition for this evening.
