Elsecar won by 5 wickets
well saturday started as usual for me woke wi a hang over thinking i wa gunna be in the stiffs again. only for old fat ed to call me to the firsts to face the old houghton boys ooops i mean elsecar. well the new fat ed started of by losing the toss again. so the main were asked to bat 1st on a wicket that had been covered for a few day and some cloud cover so the ball would be swining. in goes the main openers only for izzy to be walking back pritty soon to the only good ball that houghton old boys new overseas bowled all day. and wi the old boys bowling well and tight and keeping the main to a low score of 151 with some good knocks from tan nick and alec all getting over 20. but the best show of the the innings was a fine hatrick by 1 of the old boys to mop the tail up and set up a tight 2nd half. the old boys reply set of like the mains with an early wicket but the old boys kept chipping away at the score.then at 50 for 3 townsend walks to the crease with elliott firing on full throttle bowled a jaffer to start and made it hard for townsend to get of strike. elliot walked back to his mark to bowl his last ball of what was a good over. at his mark he seemed to be scratching at the turf like a raging bull, starts his run up and threw down what can only be described as the quickest ball in league history. townsend reacted with a wild swish, only to get a thick edge on the thunder bolt that elliot had sent down. the wonder that was to follow left the cricketing world in amazement and crys of were not worthy were ringing round the ground, as jones left the floor like a flying hippo diving full lenght to his right and backwards to catch said thunder bolt to land with a combat roll and close the main gate rip down for good. with his team swarming him and the crowd on there knees jones just let townsend knows not to put his lottery on tonigh cause he dunt know how unlucky he his that id caught that. well it was left to 1 of the old boys to hold an end up while they struggled to knock the runs of. main loosing again but a decent effot by the lads. captain fat ed and the backward looking elliot (aka rodney) bowling well with 2 for 19 of 12 and 3 for half a million respectively.
