Kyle Anderson - A Docker with Talent

Kyle attended a Rugby tournament with his School. Buckingham Street and was declared the Star of the Show.

Some of the city’s young rugby league stars showcased their talents at the weekend in a Primary School tournament at Sutton Park.

Sutton Park Primary School hosted the event on Saturday which saw four schools go head to head – Buckingham, Francis Askew, Stockwell and the hosts Sutton Park.

In an exciting competition, supported well by friends and family, Buckingham Primary came out on top claiming three wins from their three matches and scoring a huge 14 tries in total.

Kyle Anderson proved to be the star of the show with a terrific all round performance with many tipping him to be one to watch for the future.

Hull FC Foundation Officer, Sasch Brook, who co-ordinated the event, commented, ‘It was a fantastic morning of Junior Rugby League at Sutton Park Primary School.

“All the players played with an abundance of energy and enthusiasm with some really classy individual work and team play put into action. Following on from the event at Francis Askew Primary School last month we aim to build on this and ensure the next set of tournaments go from strength to strength.”

He continued, “As always, the teachers were really pro active with their respective Primary Schools and the parents of the players deserve a huge thanks for ensuring everyone arrived safely from different parts of the city.”

Meanwhile, victorious Buckingham Primary School coach and teacher Gary McHugh, also a former Hull KR player, added, “I was really pleased with the full morning as the tournament was run very well and it went smoothly.”

“The weather was brilliant and I was proud of the boys efforts as they played out of their skins and tackled their hearts out. A big well done to all four Primary Schools and we look forward to the next tournament in the New Year.”

All the schools are keen to expand the competition with an invitation for more schools to take part. Early next year meetings will be held to finalise dates for more regular Saturday morning fixtures that will be supported by the Hull FC Foundation team.
