Dockers came into the game having had an extra week off due to last week’s postponed game with Wath Brow due to the opposition’s coach breaking down. Siddal meanwhile overcame the then league leaders Ince Rose Bridge 36-12 on home soil.
It was Siddal who hit the front with just three minutes gone when stand off half Shaun Garrod went in leaving scrum half Chris Brooke to add the conversion. Dockers replied just four minutes later when Jason Bowsley crossed but Andy Kay
was unable to add the extras.
Dockers went in front midway through the first half when Craig Skelton
scored the first of a brace of tries with Kay this time able to tag on the conversion. However there was then a couple of sin bins when Martin Johnson, as per the match official, used a careless forearm. He went as did Siddal skipper Nick Smith for a bout of dissent.
Siddal responded well with a try on the half hour from winger Gareth Blackburn with another goal from Brooke to make it 16-10. Dockers once again hit back when Jon Eccles
powered over leaving Kay to draw the sides level again but only for an Emerson Newburn try in the last minute of the half to give the visitors a four point lea at the break.
It took fifteen minutes of the second half before the next try scoring opportunity only for Bowsley’s pass to Eccles to be called as forward. Ten minutes later Dockers did get over the whitewash when a cross field move ended with Craig Skelton
finishing off I great style. Kay missed with the conversion and Chris Stephenson
tried to win the game but his attempted drop goal went wide.
