HULL DOCKERS U12's MATCH REPORT 25/03/2018

HULL DOCKERS U12 v COTTINGHAM TIGERS U12

Sunday 25th March, 2018

After a delayed start to the season due to the weather Hull Dockers U12’s finally opened their league campaign against Cottingham Tigers U12’s. Dockers forced a mistake from the kick off which put them on the front foot but despite looking dangerous they couldn’t capitalise. Cottingham Tigers opened the scoring when a strong run from half way which evaded several attempted tackles resulted in a try under the posts which was duly converted. Dockers tried to get back into the game with good runs from Jacob Bradford & Jordan Casey but the Cottingham defence held firm. Cottingham extended their lead taking advantage of some good field position with another try close to the posts which was converted.

Dockers responded well and soon scored their first try of the morning. A strong run from Kurtis Webster earned Dockers a penalty and from the tap Harry Clark fed Ellis Lowthorpe whose short ball saw Ryan Moses burst through the attempted tackles and get the ball down for a well worked try which Lowthorpe successfully converted. Dockers enjoyed their best spell with Ryan Mills going close on a couple of occasions but they couldn’t get back on level terms before the whistle blew for half time.

Half Time Hull Dockers 6 Cottingham Tigers 12

It was Cottingham who made a brighter start to the 2nd half and their good play was rewarded with a try which although wasn’t converted extended their lead. Dockers were under pressure but some determined tackling forced a mistake and from the scrum the ball found Jack Fox who set off on a 40 metre jinking run beating several tacklers and finding the strength to touch down just to the side of the posts. Lowthorpe again converted to close the gap to four points. Dockers looked to take the lead for the 1st time helped by some excellent runs from Mikey Turner but couldn’t complete enough sets to test a resolute Cottingham defence. Cottingham extended their lead with a long range try helped by some weak Hull Dockers defence although the conversion was missed.

Cottingham Tigers went in again with their player showing excellent pace and power to crash over and although the conversion was missed the hooter soon went which gave Cottingham Tigers a well deserved win.
