Great day at the 10s Tournament.

The inaugural 10s tournament at Brantingham Park proved to be tremendous success with the Trojans, captained by Tom Rice, emerging as winners of the four team round robin competition.
All the games were competitive and entertaining with the young academy players impressing, Ben Smith, Ben Winterburn and Will Reid all showing a good turn of pace and decent handling in the opening matches.
The senior players relished the chance to get involved in some contact after the rigours of pre-season training and a number of the front row showed a deftness and agility not often seen on a regular match day, Quiggers, Jonno and Josh Thundercliffe all racing in for tries. The result of several of the matches was settled with the last play of the match to keep the overall tournament winner in doubt until the final whistle.
. 1. Trojans - played 3, won 2, draw 1. Tries scored 8, Points 5
2. Warriors - played 3, won 2, lost 1, tries scored 10, Points 4
3. Gladiators - played 3, won 1, draw 1, lost 1, tries scored 7, Points 3
4. Spartans - played 3, lost 3, tries scored 7, points 0

It was difficult to determine who was the most relieved, the Doc, the coaching team or Fergie himself at the end of the afternoon but it was a delight to see both him and Nev Bateman back on the pitch and fully committed; I’s look well set for the upcoming season. Next week-end the club host Scottish Premiership Division 1 side Glasgow Hawks.
