The ladies rounders team pulled off a marvelous victory, 26.5 - 17, against Molescroft ladies to gain reward for all their hard work. Onward and upward.

Blaydon - a look at another team in N1

From Blackheath to Blaydon; there’s an alphabetical, geographic and cultural journey; City Slickers go North to Geordie Shores.
Blaydon were established back in the 1880’s and have always been a force in North East rugby. Several well-known players began their careers at the club, including Micky Skinner and Stephen Bainbridge. The club made progress through the leagues under the leadership of long serving Captain David Guthrie, achieving four promotions to reach N1, a position they have maintained for five seasons.
The club is renowned for its Giant car boot sale which is a main source of income and so popular that it now runs on Wednesday as well as Sunday.
Last season Blaydon finished in 8th place in N1, one position above local rivals DMP, and the club had a number of players on the recent England Counties tour. Gavin Jones (who represented Yorkshire along with the Ionians contingent), Chris Wearmouth and Harry Bate joined Blaydon captain Keith Laughlin who also captained the tour.

Bugle blogger – an inside look at the life of a serious athlete.

To the casual observer or supporter it must seem that nothing is going on during the summer months of the close season. Let me tell you nothing could be further from the truth. The guys have been given their own training programme, based on hydroponics I think, and all the players are aiming to bulk up before pre –season training begins on the 30th June.
I have been going large at the protein shakes and just to make sure the weight piles on I am also including a big Mac or two. Four gym sessions a week are matched with four sessions in the Cock & Bull. I like to combine a race to the bar with a good wrestle with the lunch time regulars to get served. It’s hard, really tough.
Got to go, more goss. next week.
