A well deserved reward after a tough season

Well done Matthew
- HULL WYKE rugby league and your u16a teammates.

We received the good news from the City of Hull Academy that one of our u16a players Matthew Smith has been awarded a scholarship contract.

Matthew has been with the club 10 years, playing most of his rugby in the year above his true age group, including a tough season with the u16a in the Yorkshire League this year.

A versatile player who has played in every position except prop, he has been watched for a few years but missed out on the original intake for the scholarship for his age group last year.

Since then he has gained another opportunity to impress with numerous man of the match performances in the Yorkshire League and he also made the Hull schools squad for a game last month versus the Mackay School touring party (Australlian schools squad).

We wish Matthew every success, his coaches are proud of his efforts and also his loyalty to the club over his rugby career. Further proof that Hull Wyke can provide you with the chances to progress along the RL pathway (further developments in this area will be announced soon, watch this space).
