Hungerford Town Juniors U18s 3 - 3 Coleshill Juniors
Honours even at the season opener for Hungerford U18s as they battle back from two goals down
Hungerford opened their season on a hot Sunday lunchtime but failed to over come a competitive Coleshill side.
Hungerford found themselves a couple of goals down in a forgettable first half where you thought maybe the heat had got to some of their defending. Certainly the home side looked a little off pace and were tow down before the 30 minute mark. Angus Sosnowy provided the highlight of the half for the crusaders smashing a free kick against the goal frame but it was little more than a footnote in a huff and puff 45.
You always felt that the third goal of the game would be crucial and so it proved to be. Keenan Dundas was a thorn in the side of the Coleshill defence and caused a defensive mix up which lead to Hungerford's opener a goal Dundas himself made 5 minutes into the half. A few minutes later Hungeford equalised when they were awarded an in direct free kick in the Coleshill penalty area. A quick thinking Lee Franklin set up Johnny Haist to shoot into the empty net as the Coleshill defence switched off.
With this equaliser Hungerford were bouyed and started to play the football they are capable of. One of these moves involving Dundas Haist and Franklin set up Simon Carter who fired into the net on the six yard line to give Hungerford the lead.
Coleshill were always dangerous on the break and Joe Choules had to produce a couple of good saves to prevent the away side drawing level. It was really end to end stuff however as Hungerford pressed on.
just as you thought the drama was over for the afternoon Joe Choules brought down a Coleshill attacker in the box for a clear penalty which was dispatched for the equaliser.
The end result was 3 - 3 not the ideal start for Hungerford but a scoreline they would have taken at half time
