Charlie Austin took time out of his busy schedule to offer the Academy some guidance and insight into the world of a Premier League Footballer.

Academy Ambassador Charlie Austin visited the young scholars this afternoon to run his eye over the programme and offer some advice that will hopefully act as a catalyst to push the players on to the next level.

Charlie spoke openly about his journey from non-league into professional football and the sacrifices he had to make in order to reach that level. At a time in their lives when there are many distractions outside of football he said his career could have ended up very differently if he hadn't made the right choices at 18 years old. He then went on to speak about the differences between non-league and professional football, where he underlined determination everytime you cross that white line in training and matches to be the best you can be.

The players were then given an opportunity to find out a bit more about Charlie and asked the following:
1. Best player he has played with - Niko Kranjcar
2. Toughest opponent - Phil Jagielka
3. Best atmosphere at a ground - Upton Park
4. Idol as a youngster - Alan Shearer
5. Club he'd like to play for - Newcastle

The Academy players at Hungerford will be looking to follow a similar pathway to that of Charlie's and if they achieve half of what he has done in their career they won't have done bad!
