Striker and leading scorer Tom Knighton has left Mangotsfield United and signed for Evo-Stik League Southern Division One South & West rivals Yate Town after the club put in seven days` notice of approach.

A former Mangotsfield youth team player, Knighton returned to the club from Tiverton Town in June 2009.

After leaving Mangotsfield and signing for Cadbury Heath a short spell at Frome Town followed before making the switch back to Cadbury Heath where his impressive goalscoring record earned him a move to Bitton.

After continuing to impress, Tiverton won the race for his signature when snapping him up in the summer of 2007.

Knighton becomes the second Mangotsfield player to swap Cossham Street for Lodge Road this season after attacking midfielder Matt Groves made the switch in October.
