HUNGERFORD TOWN manager Bobby Wilkinson has urged his side to return to its ‘underdog’ roots to beat the heightened level of expectation that follows last season’s play-off charge.

Hungerford have lost only once in four outings, but have blown 2-0 leads in each of their last two games and have yet to get this seasons moving at full pace.

They entertain Biggleswade Town on Saturday, and Wilkinson has called for his side to “get back to basics.

“The disappointing thing is we were brilliant to get into those positions when we were leading, and Dorchester were the first team put three past us in years.

“The problem is we are victims of our success now,” he added. “Everybody is saying we should be beating these teams, but we’ve got no right to go out there and beat them, we have to work for it.”

“People have to stop thinking that we’re going to win every home again just because we did last year. Let’s just relax and enjoy the football and see where it takes us.”

Hungerford have Paul Strudley back on duty after ex-Reading goalkeeper Dan Lincoln helped out for two games before joining Conference South club Hayes and Yeading this week.

Skipper Mark Draycott and defender Jon Boardman are available before starting suspensions while striker Stefan Brown is a 50-50 hope.

Kelvin Bossman, who netted both goals in Monday night’s 2-2 draw at Redditch United, will be turning out against his previous club, where he netted 18 times last season.
