Hunters Cricket Club - Report
| Hunters CC | 162/7 | vs | 156/9 | Taurids |
Hunters won by 4 wickets against Taurids
Good overall team performance..
Taurids:
End of 20th over: 50/5
End of 30th over: 78/6
End of 35 overs: 107/6
End of 40 overs: 156/7
George walked in at the fall of 6th wicket. He gave a catch to long off, the second ball he faced, but was dropped.. Then he gave another catch to long on the 3rd ball he faced.. it was misjudged and went for a 4. That's when he started scoring ( slogging).. and it worked for him today... With the 2 dropped catches, he scored 15 runs on Madhu's over.
Overall great bowling by Hunters except for the last few overs... Otherwise, brilliant bowling by the fast bowlers...
Hunters Bowling:
Shazil: 8-0-33-1
Kiran: 3-1-10-0
Murtaza: 8-1-26-2
Abhilash: 7-1-36-3 ( 6 vers: 18/3 and 7th over 18/0)
Haroon: 4-1-7-0
Sheraz: 4-0-16-0
Madhu: 6-0-28-0 ( 5 overs: 13/0 and 6th over: 15/0)
taurids: Highlights:
Gurpreet: 50 N.O
George: 41 N.O.
Hunters batting:
Sudeep started the innings carefully and Ani gave him good company...
7 Overs: 24/0
9 overs 32/3
15 overs: 67/3.. At this time, Madhu and Kiran were going good, Madhu holding one end and Kiran clearing the boundaries at will but cautiously.
20 Overs: 82/4
27 overs: 111/6. Walked in Sheraz...
While Madhu was holding one end, Sheraz was watchful and selective is his shot making.. Lots of forward defenses and lots of playing in the "V". When opportunity came, he didnt let that pass by..He scored two 6s and one 4 in his innings of 27 N.O.
Hunters Highlights:
Madhu: 42 N.O
Kiran: 31
Sheraz: 27 N.O.
Things to improve:
Even though it is great to start the 40 over season on a winning note, there are lots to learn from this game:
1: Catches win matches
2: Death over bowling has to improve
3: We should have chased this with atleast 7 wickets in hand... Batsmen must take more responsibilities... Some of the LBWs were unfortunate but we need to take those into consideration as well...
Overall a good performance...

Balaji Kanchi - 12 months agoAwesome game guys! Let's learn how to kill the opposition when
They are down on the mat. Captains innings by Madhu!
Bhaskar Kupps - 12 months agoAwesome guys!!! Great team work! Madhu and Sherazi carrying the bat again! Great job.
Hemanth Shetty - 12 months agoGood job. 150+ for Taurids :(
We can do better.
Vivek Jayaraman - 12 months agoFantastic job guys. And congratulations to Abhilash for a great debut.
As for the Taurids, it's a pity we let them off the hook like that, but I must admit I don't feel too bad about good old George getting a few big hits in a loss!
Sheraz Butt - 12 months agoTeam, A win is a win but as Madhu pointed out we need to improve in 3 areas.
1) Solid batting parternships in the top order.
2) Taking the catches without fail.
3) Death bowling.
Top order has to produce long partnerships. Its all a mental game and applying yourself. All of us are capable in doing us but sometimes let our mind wander off course. Its a mental game. Stay focused by counting the runs in the over or find another way to remain locked in mentally.
Catches win matches that must be our strength. Lets make it our personal goal to field and catches like our money was on it. Dropped catches cost us atleast 50+ runs yesterday and could be more against better teams. Take the catches even if you have to catch it in your mouth.
The death bowling is critical. Our bowling was top notch as a unit for 35 overs but was bad after that. Keep in mind how the batsmen are trying to slog and vary the line, length and speed to slow them down. We MUST improve on this.
The last thing is to learn from your opponent in the good that they did. They fought to the end and recovered from 36/6 to post 156/7. Keep this in mind and how they did this. They put on 70+ for the 6th wicket with smart batting with 1s and 2s.
At the end they scored big and that was due to their partnership.
Even in the field the fought and did not get down even when the match was out of their hands. Learn, Survive and Excel.
See you on Wednesday. Time to work on improvements.
Sudeep Banerjee - 12 months agoOur batsmen had some good partnerships throughout so important for big chases....thats our plan this year....partnerships...no more 2-3 wickets falling in heap.Bowling wise our plan has been to be accurate and we did that. So its a good start to our plans. Slog overs bowling and good opening starts are the next areas to look into.Sounds like a bang boom dedicated practice session :-)
Hari Prasad - 12 months agoCongratualtions....We shouldn't have let them recover from 36/6. At the end of the Day we won the game. However, the path we chose to register our win was a tough one. :-)
Sheraz Butt - 12 months agoSpeaking for myself only: This win has left me wanting more and stronger performance. I think we let them off the mat when we should have stomped on them. I am hungry for more and ready practice on wednesday. Anyone want to practice Sat. morning?
