AGM - Change of venue to the Cricket Club - All welcome

Hello all

We are just a week away from our AGM and we are looking to find what skill base we have within the club that could help to maintain and improve Huntly RFC.

Huntly RFC is a club run by volunteers, with the exception of our Development Officer, Chris Lee. If it were not for the volunteers in the club, there would be no Huntly RFC. The volunteers we have carry out duties which range from 1/2 an hour to 10 hours plus per week, depending on the time of year. But, we have become victims of our own success through the work that Chris has done and the dedication of our coaches over the last few years. The number of children within the P1 - S4 age range has gone from less than 100 to over 150 in just 2 years. This along with the dedicated girls section and the senior side to the club has lead to us being classed by SRU as a Medium to Strong Club. We have to remain organised and ensure we have the right skills in the right places if we wish to grow the club further and for this, we need more volunteers.

The Management Committee are the elected members who are responsible for the day to day running of the club and are there to ensure the aims and objectives of the club are met. The format of the committee changed 4 years ago with the introduction of the 1st female secretary. There had never been a female at this level before and it shows Huntly RFC were willing to drop the ‘old boys’ image and embrace the changing format of the club with a growing youth section. In the link below there is a video for North Berwick RFC and how they too have female committee members and explains the importance of having more females in committees and how important volunteers within a club are. Please take a few minutes to view it.

We are looking for male and female volunteers with skills in catering, social media, communications, match reporting, sports and/or fitness coaching, general organisational skills, and anyone who just wants to volunteer to help on the odd occasion. Please come forward and let us know you are interested in volunteering. Training courses are available for anyone interested in coaching.

The roles for election into the Management Committee are as follows:

Chairperson

Club Secretary

Membership Secretary

Treasurer

Director of rugby

Events and Facilities Convenor

Media and Communications Officer

Volunteer Co-ordinator

If you require any further information on any of the roles, please contact Jane Mckenzie (Secretary) at secretary@huntyrfc.com.

We urge you all as members of the club to come along to the AGM on Friday the 6th May at 7.30pm at the Cricket Club in Huntly. Children are welcome to come along too and listen in to what is happening in their club. The more people the better it is for the club.

Hope to see you there on the night.

Regards

The Management Committee

Huntly RFC.
