Huntsville traveled strong down to local rivals Gadsden for the first competitive match of the season.
Huntsville came out firing on all cylinders and gave no quarter for the full 80 minutes. Huntsville's attack was fluid with good support by all players on the field. Huntsville's defense for the first half was solid, but not as aggressive as desired. So halftime focused on continuing to play good attacking rugby and upping the defensive intensity. The second half saw Huntsville defend much more physically and contained a couple try-line stands to keep Gadsden from scoring. In the end, Huntsville saw out the match with a win of 71-0.
