Thoughts of the Chairman - from the touchline at HQ on Saturday - a beautiful autumnal afternoon greeted Suz and I as we arrived at HQ on Saturday to be greeted by Damo and Jo going to the Lakes and Danny (still running around on a broken leg and telling me he wants to play!!). Met up with Lawrence our key sponsor from Spar and the scene was set for a fine afternoon of rugby. First off we spotted the referee and we knew him to be very good and as the teams took the pitch the expectancy was high! A few new additions to the squad this week gave us a whole new look to the front five and having Sooty back always helps the scrum - Kev was playing blind side!! - Garstang looked quite bright with the ball but quite honestly couldn't win enough ball - as opposed to last week we bossed the tight and the loose and supplied the back line with a huge amount of steady ball. In all honesty though the handling did not look quite as sharp as the week before the score should have been double! - Adam was on fine form again and scored an excellent individual try by side stepping the whole of the Garstang defence. Apparently Garstang didn't have their full team out because of unavailability - little did they know but neither did we!! A fine performance in the first half and we were 24 points up and cruising! - Suz was getting some fab photos in the good sunlight and everybody was happy. We had a good turn out of fans and supporters (most of whom know the rules!!)and we could just do with a tea lady at half time! - the second half started well enough but then a stray pass was intercepted and Garstang took full advantage running fully 55 yards to touch down under the posts - to be fair it was the only time they looked like scoring. To give Garstang their due they didn't give up and although we scored again before the end to get a well earned bonus point Garstang were pressing hard in the final quarter as we seemed to run out of gas. The game overall was played in very good spirit and although the only yellow card of the afternoon should have been aimed at our former captain the referee had little to get excited about.Good performances from Tom Bailey (he gets fitter by the game!), Sooty, Adam, Tramp, Brian and Biggsy. And then off to the bar!! - Suz and I are well and truly on diets now so its still water this week - just a sniff of Boddingtons and I've put on half a stone!!Most of the Garstang team came in to the Club for a pie and a pint and they all looked very smart and well turned out. Good to see Bradley and Ross - Bradley brought his spaniel and Ross brought his donkey!- (meaning his dog is the size of a donkey!)they had come down to start the evenings proceedings of getting Ross rat faced before his wedding next week - note to the future Mrs Horton - we know you didn't want his beautiful face bruised before the wedding - but really - 3 weeks off plus the honeymoon!!! - any way good luck to Ross and Jo on Sunday - we will see you all on Sunday evening - please can you save us a video clip of the best mans speech!!

Cheers - yours in Rugby - CW
