For the second game in row Hyndland have allowed there opponents to build a score before coming awake and so it was last Saturday at scotstoun where Hyndland went down to Cowal according to the Ref by 32-25. Cowal coached by former Hyndland player Derek Purdie were a young side apart from Derek and showed a keenness to attack from all over the pitch which resulted in a couple of early scores from them before Hyndland found there feet. Hyndland eventually got on the scoreboard when Hooker Joe Halley’s determination forced him over the line for the try he had been denied in the last two games. With the Forwards having the upper hand again in the tight and lineout things should have been easier for Hyndland but good defence from Cowal and wrong options from Hyndland caused the game to stutter not helped by the Ref who seemed to be from the touchline to only policing one side. This unfortunately led to Hyndland playing most of the second half with 14 when Centre nick gillan questioned the refs decisions once too often ( Hyndland we must learn to pass enquiries through the Skipper)and he was sent off. At this point Hyndland introduced veteran Zimbabwean Centre chris bishi and standoff Tony Smith who had just flown in from America and both made an excellent contribution to the Hyndland cause with Tony grabbing a try and Chris managing several try saving tackles. The fowards though were the ones who grabbed the other scores with jim mcbrearty grabbing a double with one being another pushover try. Daniel McKay scored Hyndlands other points with a penalty and conversion.
