H&D 'A' Ease Into Next Round

Peartree Bees 127-6 H&D 'A' 128-3

Hythe & Dibden 'A' made it through to the last 16 of the South Hants Indoor Cup by beating a gallant Peartree Bees by 3 wkts with 3 balls remaining.

With no Tom Richards or Matt Young ~ Matt Howe returned and there was a recall for Ryan O'Connor.

Fletch pre match plans were disrupted when one of his players recalled playing earlier in the season for Winchester Vets. That meant a quick change for veteran Paul Venn.

Peartree batted first and Harry Parker & Charlie Ford put on 16 before Ford was run out by Howe. 'I was miles in he said'. Parker was next to go in the 4th over to the Roc's first ball ~ bowled for 16.

Fletch hit as nice boundary before being bowled by TJ for 9 and receiving the now regular walk off banter to go with it. After 6 over the Bees were 59-3 and needed to up the pace. They did that with a 35 run partnership between Robinson and our Luke Flanagan. Then in the 7th over Robinson was bowled by Howe for 23.

Flanagan & Venn then added 48 for the 5th wicket with some well run 3s. Venn was out in the final over run out by Howe for 15, Flanagan followed bext ball bowled by Howe for 14. Peartree 127 all out.

For Hythe TJ was the pick of the bowlers 1-15 off 3 whilst Howe took 2-25.

128 to win Hythe had a terrific start through Howe & Luca Roberts who put on 69 in 6 overs before Howe retired 28*. Roberts also retired after his first six ~ 26* ~ Hythe 75-0 after 7.

Then the game opened up by Paul Venn ~ O'Connor was bowled for 0 whilst Stovell only made 10 before he was caught by Flanagan with the score on 114. TJ was then bowled by Venners first ball and suddenly with 8 balls remaining & 14 required a upset was on. But Howe returned to join Tom O'Sullivan and hit the first ball for 4 and then a 3.

Final over Hythe needed 7 but a sigh of relief to the camp as Fletch elected to bowl the final over. Howe hit first ball for 4 before a Fletch wide won the game. Howe finishing 39* & O'Sullivan 11* . Hythe now play Div 3 side Ashurst in the last 16.
