H&D 'B' Produce Cup Shock

Lyndhurst 131-3 H&D 'B' 132-0

Nothing like a good cup upset to keep the motivation going through the xmas break.

After two defeats George's side expected nothing but a thrashing against higher opposition.

Lyndhurst batted first Simon Park & Paulton's Rob Pike adding 59 in 5 overs before Pike retired 25*. Park also retired after hitting Bowman for a six 25* in the 7th over. Then at 77 Hythe gained their first wicket when Sanderson run out Panicker first ball. Dave Agha & Sam Constable then added 29 for the 2nd wicket before at 106 ~ Constable was run out by Steve Cox.

Birch fell for 0 when caught & bowled by Kev McCarthy in the 10th over. That brought back Pike who with Agha took the score to 131 at the close. Pike 37* Agha 22*. For Hythe Aaron Oliver 0-22 off 3 the pick of the bowlers.

132 to win looked challenging but the Lions were without Mark Lawless. Pike did them a favour in the very first over bowling 3 no balls and 2 wides (15 runs) then 22 came off the next two overs. Cox & Sanderson were going well though Cox gave a couple of chances off the roof. At 66 in the 6th over Coxy retired 27* inc 2x6s. That brought Oliver to the crease to bat with his mate.

Sanderson 29* as Hythe reached 87-0 off 7. Sixteen runs then came off Dave Agha's 8th over as Mike Bowman smashed 2x4s and a 6. At 129-0 Bowman retired 25* and helped by 25 wides & 19 no balls Hythe got home with 9 balls remaining. Terrific win which will see Hythe play the winners of Winchester Vets or O.T's & Romsey in the next round and Mr.Agha trundling home moaning about his bowlers.
