H&D B Finish With a Loss
Sway 151-2 H&D B 74 a/o
H&D B ended their winter campaign with a big loss against Sway who earned promotion with the Win.
Things started bad for Kev McCarthy's side when Dan Taylor thought the game had been cancelled along with the A teams game. So Hythe played with only 5.
Sway batted first and opening pair Dan Stevenson & Sam Naylor put on 50 for the first wicket before Naylor was LBW to Steve Cox for 22. Cox was at it again when he caught & bowled Lewis for 3. Sway 53-2 after 5 overs.
Stevenson & Chris Morris added 26 before Stevenson retired 27* at 79-2. Morris & Dave Marshall then added 44 before Morris retired 26*. At 133-2 Marshall also retired 28* ~ Steve Drayton 11* and the returning Stevenson 37* took the score to 151-2 at the close. For Hythe Aaron Oliver 0-29 off 3 was the pick of the bowling.
Oliver then opened the Hythe innings with Alex Nicholas who for the second game running kept wicket and gave away no byes. The pair put on 38 in just 3.3 overs before Nicholas retired 30* (inc 1x4 & 4x6s). Oliver made 12 before he was caught by Lewis off Naylor in the 4th over. Cox then made 4 before he was caught by Drayton off Morris for 4.
Naylor took the wickets of Pete Miller 6 & Kev McCarthy 0. Al Nicholas returned but after a couple of singles ~ he was last man out for 32. Hythe all out for 74 and losing by 77 runs.
