Last Leg Defeat For Darts
Lord Nelson A 5- 4 H&D CC
What a great game of darts but unfortunately not the result the Hythe lads wanted.
Hythe turned up at the Nelson only to be told that the Nelly lads wanted to come over to our place because Leighton had no draught lager. Despite his apologies the Nelly lads wouldn't change their minds and the Clubhouse was opened up.
No Rolly, Andy Munden or Frosty this week so skipper Steve Taylor had a fewer lads to choose from.
First up though Hythe's number 1 Pete Miller up against the Nellie skipper Will Howie. Pete started well but when Will won the 2nd leg a bit of the old Wrighty came into play. 'No ones watching me he said'. I cant talk to you anymore I need to get in the zone'
Thankfully he did and Pete came out 2-1 winner. Then the food arrive courtesy of Leighton Sausage & chips.
Next up for the Nellie ~ County player Lee Marsh ~ what he's doing playing in Div 3 god knows. Well we had the player to upset his rhythm ~ enter Lenny. 2-0 win to Marsh and match score 1-1
Wrighty sent on next for Hythe ~ looking to make up for his opening day loss ~ and the old Wrighty was back in a tough fought 2-1 win.
Game 4 saw Chris May take on Hythe's Pete Bainbridge. Pete scored well but unfortunately for him doubles let him down in a tight game 2-1 to May
Chiv didn't do much better in Game 5 ~ Up against C.Ruffel he was washed away in the first leg but battled back to take the 2nd. The 3rd leg was a poor affair from both players compared to the other two legs and Ruffel was easily.
Hythe now had to win the final singles so up goes Chalky despite complaining his form was crap. But the old Chalky was back and won 2-0. Game score 3-3 going into the doubles
Who would get the advantage in winning the first doubles. Well Taylor threw on himself and CVL who were no match for Green & Marsh
Once again the match was drawn level when The Wrights squared things up ion Game 8 against Dibden & Howie 2-1
That took us to the last game and Miller & White were up against Ruffel & Walpole. First leg to the Nelson before the Hythe lads played well to draw level. The final leg of the game & match went down to the doubles but 3 darts each for Miller & White brought no joy and the Nellie won 5-4 great evening
