Rain Halts Good Game

Hythe were chasing at 178 @ 48-2 when the rain came to spoil a good match

A good game of cricket saw Totton & Eling bat first at Southern Gardens whilst Hythe started with 9.

T&E's captain for the day opened with two youngsters and put his key batsman inc Mabfana & Kumo down the order.
The Eels were soon in trouble as TJ & Paul Venn both claimed wickets.

The pick of the Hythe bowlers was Pete Miller who bamboozled the T&E batsman with his slow pies. He has Moody caught & bowled for 6 then claimed Cummins for 0.

Fletch & Pete Stevens came on 3rd change ~ Fletch smashed the boundary as earlier in the season but he did pick up the wicket of Keegan Holzman for 0. Pete Stevens claimed the prize wicket of 1st XI captain Mabfana having him caught by Miller in the slips for 30.

The best catch though was left to the skipper Chalky who caught Kumo with a high back peddling catch for 16. Wayne Effeny bowled 4 very good overs inc a first ball wicket. Dieter Holzman made 47 and gave his wicket away to give the young number 11 a bat at the end ~ Luke Flanagan bowled some Irish dosh at the end ~ Totton & Eling 178 for 9 at the close.

Hythe opened with Flanagan & Meredith. Janie surviving 3 LBW appeals in the first over. Unfortunately Flanagan got a ball that moved late to be bowled for 0 and when Pete Miller went for 1 Hythe were in trouble at 19-2.

Chalky was swatting flies for 2 overs as he couldn't get bat to ball but he got going to add an unbeaten partnership of 29 with Meredith 26* before the rain came down and closed events

A good game of cricket and T&E well led by Dieter were a pleasure to play against
