Sun XI Win In The Damp
Despite damp conditions H&D's final home game of the season went ahead against a sporting Burley side
After a week of rain inc Saturday evening no one would have been surprised for the game vs Burley to have been cancelled. No sun Sunday morning didn't help but Burley were happy to travel and give the game a go.
Jonjo was asked to bat first and opened with Rolly who lasted only a short space of time for 3. Stovell & Murkitt then added 55 before the skipper was run out for 28. Pete Miller then made 15 before Murkitt brought up a fine fifty and added 46 with Shaun Moss.
Murkitt finally fell for 53and Moss 29. Hythe then had a mini collapse before Richie Froggett 40* & Young Clubman of the Year Noah Vaughan 25* put on an unbeaten partnership of 57 as Hythe finished 209-8 off 40 overs. Burley mixed there bowlers about to give everyone a game ~ Jim Burry 2-11 off 5 the pick of the bowlers whilst 80 year old Brian Price (who won a deserved Oscar last week for his services to Burley' bowled 2 overs at the end.)
Burley's innings then started poorly as they lost Hudson & Martin cheaply ~ Tom Jones the culprit. Jim Burry made 36 and John Blundell 42* but the forest side finished well short. Noah Vaughan taking 3-6 off 8
Hythe win by 73 runs and now one trip left to Lyndhurst. Thanks though to Burley who kept the bar busy and played the game in the right spirit
