West Bridgford V Ellistown And Ibstock Utd

We matched them in all areas except scoring

With everyone expecting a cricket score, we can take heart and pride as we made the league leaders work hard for a 3-0 victory.

We started the game determined not to make up the numbers and for the first 35 minutes we pushed West Bridgford all the way.

We were excellent at the back and always looked dangerous on the break and with West Bridgford running out of ideas, the loyal band of away fans sensed a shock result was on the cards.

As is the norm for our season, our hearts were broken on 35 minutes when West Bridgford scored when a cross into the box was punched direct onto David Erentz head who could not miss.

WB 1-0 EIBS 35 minutes

You sensed relief from the home fans, while the away fans were cursing there luck. We went into half-time knowing we were unlucky to be behind.

WB 1-0 EIBS HT

With nothing to lose, we started the second half on the attack but could not get the goal we deserved. Jordan Baker on his debut was causing the West Bridgford defence all kinds of problems.

After 60 mins, you would be hard pressed to work out who were the champion chasing side.

West Bridgford went some way to making the game safe on 65 mins when Tim Hopkinson slotted home from close range.

WB 2-0 EIBS 65 mins

Even at 2-0 we took the game to the champions elect and with better composure in front of goal would have got the goal to make the game intresting.

Aaron Large on 88 mins scored a undeserved 3rd for the home side to make the final score.

WB 3-0 EIBS

Summary

We played like champions, defending like lions but just could not score. We take a lot of heart and pride from this performance and go again against Dunkirk away next Saturday.
