Dunkirk v Ellistown And Ibstock Utd
Everything that could go wrong did go wrong
On an afternoon when everything went wrong for the away team we dragged ourselves back to Ellistown on the back of an undeserved 8-1 defeat to a Dunkirk side who took full advantage of the situation.
On a boggy pitch, we started well and tried with some success to play passing football. Unfortunately, this also led to Dunkirk's opening goal on 6 minutes when we lost the ball on the edge of our box to Phil Hopkinson who waltzed through the defence to score.

Straight after the goal we lost our defensive lynch pin and Captain Marc Stevenson to a calf injury.
We deservedly got back in the game on 19 minutes when Jordan Baker shot across the goalkeeper to equalise.
Dun 1-1 EIBS 19 mins
The Ellistown and Ibstock faithful on the terraces started to believe that today could be the day for our 1st victory of the season.
Our optimism lasted until the 28th minute when Jordan Alls shanked a volley in the penalty area and watched the ball spin over our goalkeeper and into the net.
Dun 2-1 EIBS 28 mins
With the game now being played in cold driving rain, both sides were grateful for the half-time whistle.

The second half was only 5 minutes old when the game ended as a contest, as the Referee sent off Dave Leigh for a dangerous tackle that no-one on or off the pitch saw.
Going down to 10 men knocked the stuffing out of the lads and in the heavy conditions, Dunkirk took full advantage with goals on 68 mins through Tim Berridge, 73 mins through Phil Hopkinson, 77 and 80 mins through Stephen Chaplin, 83 mins through Adam Burton and on 90 mins when Stephen Chaplin completed his hat trick.
This left the final score as.
Dun 8-1 EIBS
A second half to forget for the lads and we have to dust ourselves down and go again next Saturday v Greenwood Meadows who like ourselves have had a hard time.
