Ellistown And Ibstock Utd v Barrow Town
End of a nightmare season
The season ended with the standard 2-1 home defeat against a Barrow team who gave us every chance of winning today.
We started well and took an early lead on 8 mins when Tommy Burdett slotted home from the penalty spot.
EIBS 1-0 BT 8 mins
After the goal, EIBS fans where in dreamland for 45 seconds as that's how long it took Barrow to equalise through Ben Law who slotted home the 2nd penalty of the game.
EIBS 1-1 BT 9 mins
With both teams cancelling each other out, it was clear that EIBS had a real chance of winning and only if we had composure in front of goal then the game would have been in the bag before half-time.
The game changer came on the 40th minute as Barrow's Will Taylor was sent off for giving George Wilkinson a slap that Anthony Joshua would have laughed at.
Straight after the sending off, EIBS won a 2nd penalty when George Wilkinson was taken out in the box. Could Tommy Burdett get his 2nd goal of the game.
The answer was no, as his penalty just about made it to the goalkeeper.
At half time the game was in the balance.
EIBS 1-1 BT HT
With the odds in our favour, every EIBS fan looked up to the sky and preyed this could be the game. You could smell the tension as the game flowed and chances came and went.
Both teams looked dangerous in attack but could not find the final pass until 82 minutes when Danny Agar took advantage of slack defending to easily slot home.
EIBS 1-2 BT 82 mins
As the goal went in our players sunk to there knees as they knew our best change to win a game since Arnold at home had gone and while we pressed for the equaliser, you knew the game was gone.
So it was with a heavy heart that the referee blew for full-time with the score.
EIBS 1-2 BT FT
An excellent shift by the team who were well supported by the EIBS faithful. This is my last summary of the season, so I would like to say thank you for reading and supporting the club and next season we are going to win the league.
Have a good summer.
