Gedling Miners Welfare v Ellistown And Ibstock United
Tight game could have gone either way
A tight game between the leagues bottom sides ended in a 0-0 draw that on reflection was a fair result.
With better finishing, we should have won but only a last minute goal line clearance stopped Gedling sneaking the 3 points.
You sensed both teams did not want to lose this game and at times the game reached stalemate as attacks broke down early and defences were in control.
GMW 0-0 EIBS HT
The game opened up after half time as both teams went for the goal to win the game. We had the better opportunities with Mitch Williams and Tommy Burdett getting into excellent positions to score only to be frustrated by last ditch tackles.
As the game ticked over into injury time, Gedling should have scored as Jordan Whitehead clean through on goal, chipped Simon Dye and with the ball just about to cross the line Jack Stanley hooked it clear.
That was the last chance of a tight game that finished.
GMW 0-0 EIBS
A good compact performance from the lads who will be kicking themselves they did not win. Not often we can say that is season.
We move onto Tuesday night when we play South Normanton at home with nothing to lose.
