Losses to Derbyshire Rugby community

Ilkeston RUFC would like to pass on our condolences following the sad announcement of the passing away of fellows in our rugby playing community.

Chesterfield Kevin Brown

It is with much regret that I have to advise you of the death of Kevin Brown of Chesterfield Panthers RUFC.

Kevin came to the Club when his son started playing as a Mini and soon became an active father, initially within the Juniors but more latterly as a Committee member, coach and then team administrator.

He was Secretary throughout the period of the Club’s relocation and contributed greatly to the administration of that job.

At this sad time our thoughts are with his widow Hazel and his children Kirsty and Callum.

Bakewell Mick Nicholls

It is with regret that I have to advise you of the death of Mick Nicholls, a past player at Bakewell Rugby Club.

Mick was a fine blind side wing forward for the club in the 60s, 70s and 80s. He was a great character and will be sadly missed.

I am sure that you will join with me in sending our sincere condolences to Mick’s widow Jill and his family.

Matlock John Griffiths

I regret to have to advise you all of the death of John Griffiths, a past player at Matlock Rugby Club.

A second row player, John represented both Derbyshire and the Three Counties during his playing career.

Our sincere condolences go to John’s family and friends.
