1. Code of Conduct 1


All Members and Guests of Illingworth St.Mary’s Cricket Club will:

• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of Cricket;
• Treat everyone equally and not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, parental or marital status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference or political belief;
• Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed;
• Display high standards of behaviour on and off the field of play;
• Complete the Club Membership Form and Pay Membership Fees promptly;
• Ensure the security of facilities, equipment, safety of members and finances of the Club at all times following procedures and guidelines;
• Promote the positive aspects of Cricket e.g. fair play and the spirit of cricket;
• Encourage all participants to learn the Laws and Rules and play within them, respecting the decisions of match officials;
• Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with match officials;
• Recognise good performance not just match results;
• Place the well-being and safety of Young People above the development of performance;
• Ensure that activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual;
• Respect Young People’s opinions when making decisions about their participation in Cricket;
• Not smoke anywhere in the Pavilion, Equipment Containers or Scorebox;
• Not bring into the Club grounds or facilities, nor use or encourage the purchase or use of any illegal or banned substance;
• Be aware of the club’s Code of Conduct when using Social Media networking sites:
o Post messages that are respectful, not abusive or involve personal attacks;
o Material should be lawful, and not be obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, slanderous, hateful nor embarrassing to any other entity; it should not involve third party advertising or sales;
o The Club’s Officials reserve the right to remove anything deemed to contravene the above;
o The Club’s Officials reserve the right to terminate involvement by users who post such content;.
o The views and opinions expressed on the Club's social media sites do not necessarily represent those of the Illingworth Cricket Club. Therefore, the Club cannot be held responsible for the accuracy or reliability of information posted by external parties.
• Not provide Young People with alcohol when they are under the care of the Club;
• Follow ECB guidelines set out in the “Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children’ and any other relevant guidelines issued;
• Report any concerns in relation to a Young Person, following reporting procedures laid down by the ECB;
• In addition to the above, all Club Officers and Appointed Volunteers will:
o Be appropriately vetted if required,
o Hold relevant qualifications and be covered by appropriate insurance
o Always work in an open environment (i.e. avoid private or unobserved situations and encourage an open environment)
o Inform Players and Parents of the requirements of Cricket.
