ICC Fantasy League 2016 End of May Update

New Team Registrations

The Fantasy League has opened its doors for new teams to enter at a discounted price of £5. Original rules apply, the main ones have been summarised below and teams need to be received by me (Luke) before play starts on Saturday 4th June.

New teams will only be eligible to win the Manager of the Month prizes for June, July and August. The prize fund will increase, however, from £15 per month depending on the number of new teams.

-Each team has a budget of £60,000 to buy players with.
-Each team must consist of 5 batters, 3 all-rounders, 1 wicketkeeper and 2 bowlers.
-No expletives in team names (we’re a family club).
-Each manager may select a player to be the captain. This player scores double points, and can be changed during the transfer window (see Transfers).

Teams must stick to the following rules:

-Maximum of two transfers allowed per transfer window
-Transfers must be given to Luke before 1pm on Saturday 4th June
-You are allowed to change your captain during each transfer window
-It is up to managers to ensure that they do not overspend (maximum of £60,000 budget)
-Each team must have 5 batsmen, 3 all rounders, 1 wicket keeper and 2 bowlers

May Manager of the Month

The first Manager of the Month for the 2016 season is...Brokebat Mountain, managed by Ben Clarke!

In the face of a tough challenge from Phil Smith and Declan Rothery's sides, Ben Clarke took it upon himself to secure top spot by taking 10 wickets over the weekend, securing himself 715 points for the month.

Matty Watson shot up from 16th to secure fourth finish, whilst Luke Brooksby rounded off the top five.

Poor Joshua Nolan. The ICC Cricket Consultant needs to consult with himself over his team selection, it seems.

ICC Fantasy League 2016 Overall Standings

Whilst Phil Smith suffered heartbreak in the race for Manager of the Month, the blow will be softened by the fact that he has jumped to the top of the overall table, knocking Gornall's Gonads off top spot by just nine points.

Sam McAdam consolidates third place, whilst the Wristy Strokers and Too Many Cooks Spoil The Club both jump up after the bumper five-fixture weekend - Callum Cook falls to fifth as a result of the former. Jack Watson's six-wicket haul helped his side No Balls Just De Kock break the top 10.

Bob's All-Star XI fall out of the top 10 to twelfth, whilst early pace-setter Swee All Stars make a small gain, as they look to get back into the top 10.

Ben Fearnley's Ben Fearnley will be very disappointed with their weekend, dropping seven places to sit around mid-table. Jamie Lawton's Aire-Wharfe Commemorative XI made some good ground up as they look towards mid-table.

One of the fairytales of the weekend came at the foot of the table, where Starsy's Swingers shot up five places to 33rd. Replacing him at the bottom is Ste Cook's side, who look shorn of confidence after a terrible month. They also finished 37th out of 38 in the Manager of the Month competition for May, with only Nolan's Knackers performing worse.

Karamat Hussain Invitational Cup Round Two Draw

The Second Round draw was made live at the ICC Clubhouse, and was also broadcast live on Facebook. Club legend Bob Hargreaves and Matthew Watson made the draw.

Tie of the round is definitely Ben Clarke's Brokebat Mountain side hosting Phil Smith's Over The Wall in a clash of the two May MOTM rivals. Luke Brooksby and Tom Watson go head to head in the other all-top 10 clash.

Nine of the sixteen remaining teams are currently in the bottom half of the table, and will be looking for good cup runs to give their fans something to cheer about. The potential cupset is Alex Lees's side who host second-placed Karl Gornall.

Round Two is based on points scored from games played on Saturday 4th June and Sunday 5th June.
