Sean Stevenson confirms as overseas player for 2012.

Illingworth CC are pleased to announce Sean Stevenson as their overseas player for 2012. Sean (27) currently plays A grade cricket for Westbury Shamrocks in Tasmania and is an all-rounder, batting in the top 4 and bowling first change for his current club. He is also their assistant coach. Sean has represented Tasmania at U17 and U19 level.

Sean comes highly recommended by Whitby CC, a former club of Chairman Stuart Thompson and is keen to return to England following a 4 year University degree. During his season at Whitby, Sean scored over 600 runs and won the league bowling award.

‘We have a couple of years rebuilding to do after the departure of Niall Lockley and Chris Bishop, and I am hoping that Sean will provide a sound base from which our younger players can build upon, and take some pressure off the senior members of the team’ commented Stuart.

‘I have spoken to Sean on numerous occasions over the past few months and he can’t wait to get started. We have a plan to develop a link between Illingworth and Westbury and are already looking at overseas options for 2013’

Sean will also assit with coaching during his time at Illingworth.

Luke Brooksby has been appointed as First team captain for 2012, with Steve Smith heading up the developing Second XI.
