Jonny Lamb scores first senior Century
Jonny Lamb scores his first senior ton in a high scoring match at The Jammy Green
Illingworth lost the toss and was asked to bat first on a dry icc track.
At 33 for 3 after 10 overs it needed a partnership to drag us out of this situation, Jonny Lamb Came to the crease at N.O 5 and started his innings with a bang hitting lightcliffe's opening bowler for 3 fours through mid wicket in his first 3 deliveries.
Jonny & Nazakat Ali then set on to repair the early damage with some good stroke play and quick running between the wickets. The Lightcliffe bowlers finding it hard to adjust their lines to the right/left handed batsmen.
Both Jonny and Naz passed their 50 in quick time before the drinks break. Illingworth was 125 for 3 at the half way stage. With the score on 173 for 3 baboo back up too far and was run out after jonny had hit the ball straight back at the bowler. Baboo Scored 72 runs in a partnership worth 140 between the pair.
Jonny Lamb continued to tick over the strike and allowing Zahid to hit a couple of huge blows over the vicarge before jonny finally reached his century in 106 balls in the 2nd to last over. illingworth closing on 245 for 5.
Lightcliffe's innings mirrored that of the first half with them struggling to 39 for 3 off 12 overs before the 4th wikcet partnership put on 131 runs in 28 overs.
With lightcliffe needing 6 an over from the last 12 with 6 wickets in hand it was anyones game. Karl Gornall came on and removed both set batsmen and finished with 3 for 55 off his 10 overs and Zahid removed the nxt 3 wickets to finish with 4 for 34 off his 10 overs.
But it with the last over needing to be bowl there was a mix up and baboo had bowled all his 10 overs, so up stepped Danny Wright needing 1 wicket to sercure the full 20 pts. Danny bowled their last man with his 4th ball of the over.
