Illingworth travel to 2nd in the table Horsforth next week needing to improve on this week's poor batting performance. They had the ideal chance to climb to second themselves after a superb performance from the bowlers in dismissing Upper Wharfedale for a mediocre 127 on a good batting wicket.
All the bowlers chipped in with skipper Luke Brooksby the pick taking 3-32 and Aussie Battle picking up 3-50 from his 15 overs but both Stuart Thomson 2-14 off 8 and Alex Ledger 2-17 providing ideal support.
At 74-4 after 20 overs the Jammy Green men appeared well in control but a succession of mis-judged shots saw them slump to 88-9. The last pair Stephen Cook and Stuart Thompson nearly pulled off an unlikely win with a stand of 30, the biggest of the game before Thompson was unluckily bowled and a defeat which saw the Grassington men draw level on points with Illingworth and Addingham in equal third place as the halfway stage of the league season approaches.
