Surrey Stingers 7 – 46 Immortals

The Imperial Immortals had a convincing victory crushing the Surrey Stingers 46-6.

This result put the Immortals at the top of the Thames Valley league table for the first time in their history. The Immortals began in style, forcing the ball into the Stinger’s red-zone and finishing off the drive with a powerful run by Tino Millar (HB (4y), 4th year Mech Eng) to score the first touchdown of the game. The Immortals defence then took the field and dominated the Surrey Offence; making tackle after tackle in the backfield and forcing the Stingers to punt.
The Stingers almost earned themselves some points when a running back was free to make 40 yards; but an incredible show of pace and tackling prowess by Dexter Valencia (Viper [C] (3y), 3rd year Medicine) stopped the run. At the end of the half the score was a punishing 19-0.
Fantastic first game performances by TE Lawrence Wild, superb blocking by WR Matt Connell (WR (R), 1st year Bio Chem.) and a fantastic 10 yards diving catch by WR Max ‘Hollister’ (WR/K (R), 1st year Chemistry) all led to the first rookie TD of the season by RB Deebo Ogunbanjo (HB (R), 3rd year Chem. Eng). Great coverage by LBs meant the Surrey offense struggled to make first downs.
Unfortunately an ill-conceived pass was thrown by the Immortals QB in the 4th Quarter which was intercepted by a Surrey player and returned for a touchdown. However the game was put to bed with Tino Millar running a 60 yard touchdown, finishing the game with a devastating 46-7 win to the Imperial Immortals.
