Ince Rose Bridge failed to halt their recent run of bad form when they were beaten 30-18 at home to Leigh Miners.
However, it was Rose Bridge who were on the score sheet first when a kick into the Rose Bridge twenty five metre area was well picked up by Matthew Meaden who raced twenty metres then passed to scrum half Tony Baker who outpaced the Leigh Miners defence to score under the posts. Kenny Baker slotted over the easy conversion.
Three minutes later Rose Bridge knocked on in their own half and, straight from the scrum the ball went wide to the Leigh Miners centre Ryan Ravenscroft who scored just wide of the posts. Jonny Youds levelled the scores with the conversion.
With only seven minutes of the half remaining a long pass from the Leigh Miners scrum half Jonny Youds found winger John Woods who scrambled over the try line from two metres out.
Five minutes later a fifty metre break from the Rose Bridge winger Adam Dwyer was well backed up by his opposite winger Matthew Cunningham who received the ball with only the full back to beat to score in the corner.
Eleven minutes into the second half Rose Bridge edged in front when Leigh Miners were penalised for holding down from the resulting penalty quick hands found prop Adam Jones who carried two defenders over the try line. Adam Dwyer gave Rose Bridge a 16-10 advantage with the goal kick.
Three minutes later and with Leigh Miners pressing hard a perfect line ball found standoff Liam Coleman who scored from fifteen metres out. Jonny Youds made the 16-16 with the conversion.
On sixty five minutes Rose Bridge were penalised in front of their own posts for holding down, from the penalty the Leigh Miners substitute Josh Ward gave Miners a slender 18-16 advantage.
A minute later Leigh Miners were penalised for exactly the same offence from the resulting penalty Adam Dwyer levelled the scores 18-18.
With only ten minutes remaining poor tackling enabled the Leigh Miners hooker Aaron Gorton break the Rose Bridge line of defence and with only the full back to beat he passed inside to Josh Ward who score at the foot of the posts. Once again Youds added the extras.
In the dying seconds Leigh Miners ensured victory when substitute David Rowlands crossed the line from short range in which Youds kicked the conversion attempt.
