Ince Rose Bridge gave a very spirited performance away to Siddal only to find themselves on the wrong end of a 36-12 scoreline.

As early as the eleventh minute Siddal went in front when, from advantage at the scrum quick hands out wide found winger Emerson Newborn who raced twenty metres to score in the corner. Chris Brook kicked the conversion.

Nine minutes later Siddal was on the score sheet again when a long pass from scrum half Chris Brook found his full back Scott Caley who rounded the Rose Bridge full back to score ten metres wide of the posts. Once again Chris Brook slotted over the conversion.

On thirty one minutes Siddal extended their lead even further when on the last tackle a short pass from Simeon Hoyle went to Scott Caley who carried two Rose Bridge defenders over the try line to give Chris Brook an easy conversion attempt.

In the dying seconds of the first half a deep kick into the Rose Bridge twenty five was completely misjudged which resulted in a second try for winger Emerson Newborn to give Siddal a 22-0 half time lead.

Ten minutes into the second half Rose Bridge were penalised in front of their own posts for dissent, from a quick tap the ball went wide the final pass finding Emerson Newborn who scored his third try of the game.

With two thirds of the game gone a thirty metre break from the Rose Bridge prop Adam Jones was well backed up by Kenny Baker who passed inside to hooker Kieran Malone who touched down under the posts. Kenny Baker added the extras.

Three minutes later Rose Bridge were on the score sheet again when from deep in their own half winger Danny Robbins went sixty metres which resulted in a try for standoff Kieran Eccleston who received a smart pass with only the full back to beat. Kenny Baker kicked his second conversion to make the score 26-12 in Siddal`s favour.

On seventy four minutes Rose Bridge were attempting to clear their own line only to have the ball pinched in a one on one situation which resulted in the easiest if try’s for the Siddal scrum half Chris Brook of which he added the conversion.

With four minutes remaining Siddal secured victory when standoff Shaun Blackburn turned in the tackle and evaded several attempted tackles to score in the corner.


Ince Rose Bridge second team put in a very workman like performance in defeating Chorley Panthers 26-18. There were try’s for Allan Nuttall, Scott Porteous, Rick Coates and Ritchie Shaw. John Mason kicked two goals along with two for Bradley Roden and one for Mitchell Parr.
